After a winning start to the spring season, another team from the lower half is next on our schedule: from 14:00 on Sunday we visit Budafok, who sit second-bottom of the table. The stakes are perhaps raised further by the fact that our two main pursuers, Vasas and Kecskemét, face each other in Angyalföld.
The red-and-blacks lost a high-scoring game at Szentlőrinc in the previous round, while their home record is hardly encouraging either: they have managed to keep all three points at home only against Kecskemét, giving them the league’s worst record in front of their own supporters. That figure is also deceptive, however, because only two of the eight visiting teams have actually left the BMTE Sports Ground with a win.
Budafok also changed coach during the season. Géza Mészöly’s tenure ended in November and former coach Márk Nikházi returned to the bench. Budafok have collected five points from four matches under him, yet they have still won only once in their last nine competitive games. Interestingly, exactly one year ago we also played Budafok on the second Sunday of February, when Nikházi’s side won 2–1.
Our team goes into Sunday afternoon’s contest on a run of three straight league wins. Moreover, we have not dropped points in either of our last two away matches, both of which, like this weekend’s fixture, were also played in the capital (Soroksár, Vasas).
Supporter information:
- The match kicks off at 14:00 on February 8 at the BMTE Sports Ground
- The managements of the two clubs and the police agreed that BMTE would allow our supporters to attend Sunday’s match at the Promontor Street Stadium in increased numbers, beyond the standard allocation. This meant Budafok provided us with an additional 150 tickets on top of the originally reserved away allocation, giving us a total of 450 tickets. Owing to the high demand, these sold out within an hour.
- If the tickets available for in-person purchase are not sold out by Friday, tickets will also be available to buy in Budafok.
- We will broadcast the match live on our YouTube channel.

Players with links to both clubs:
András Horváth: Won the league title with Honvéd in 2017 and the Hungarian Cup in 2020, making a total of 26 NB I appearances in Kispest colours. In 2021 he moved from our club to Budafok, first on loan and then permanently.
Dávid Kálnoki-Kis: The 34-year-old defender had two spells in Kispest, winning the Hungarian Cup with Honvéd in 2020 before returning to our club in the 2023–24 season, when he was captain. Kálnoki-Kis has played for Budafok since summer 2024; in 2023, as an opponent, he won the Hungarian Cup against them with Zalaegerszeg.
Sebestyén Ihrig-Farkas: Our homegrown forward spent successful years at Budafok, celebrating the NB III title and promotion in 2017 before proving himself for the club in NB I in the 2020–21 season. Across all competitions he scored 27 goals in competitive matches.
Ákos Zuigeber: Our forward, who produced a fantastic autumn, played for Budafok in two seasons and scored nine goals in 59 league appearances in total.
Gellért Dúzs: Our goalkeeper spent the spring of last season on loan with BMTE, making 13 league appearances.
Head-to-head matches:
This will be our sixth NB II meeting with Budafok, but we have yet to beat them away from home. Both away fixtures were played in 2024: we lost 1–0 in the spring and drew 3–3 in the summer. Under Tamás Feczkó we have already faced BMTE three times – twice in the league and once in a friendly. The most memorable was clearly the club-birthday match in August, when we won 3–0 with a convincing performance; alongside Ádám Szamosi, Dominik Csontos and Ákos Zuigeber were also on target.
