Players to have represented both clubs:
Both teams currently have two players who have represented the other side as well. From our squad, Gergő Rácz kept goal for the yellow-and-blacks in the 2014–15 season, while Dominik Csontos spent three seasons with Soroksár, scoring three goals in 45 NB II league matches.
Soroksár have two Honvéd-developed players in Gyula Csemer and Norbert Kundrák. The former only played in a cup match in Kispest, while the latter made 21 second-division league appearances between 2023 and summer 2024.
Head-to-head matches:
Our first team have faced Soroksár eight times in competitive matches so far.
At first, the Hungarian Cup brought the two teams together, first in 2003, when the match ended 1–1. As qualification was decided over a single game and extra time produced no further goal, a penalty shootout followed, which we won 4-1.
Thirteen years later another cup match in Soroksár followed, where not only the rain poured down in large quantities but the goals did too. Soroksár led 3-2 at half-time, before Vasiljevic levelled the match with a goal in the 63rd minute. Unlike the 2003 cup tie, this time there was no need for penalties: Baráth and then Youla scored during the two 15-minute periods, so we advanced with a 5-3 victory in an eight-goal match.
In spring 2019 the two teams faced each other in a two-legged cup tie, with a place in the Hungarian Cup final at stake. The first match ended with a narrow result; a late header from Kálnoki-Kis gave us a 2-1 victory over the second-division visitors. The return leg in Soroksár brought a 3-0 Kispest win, sending us into the final 5-1 on aggregate.
Interestingly, Thursday's cup draw also established that if both teams successfully navigate the next two rounds of this season's competition, they could meet again in a semi-final in 2026 – although there is still a long and difficult road to get there.
We have met the yellow-and-blacks four times in NB II so far. We have not yet managed to beat them away from home, but at Bozsik Arena we kept all three points in five-goal matches on both occasions.
In September 2023 we visited the Budapest side, where Dávid Holman replied from the penalty spot to Balázs Lovrencsics's goal to make the final score 1-1. Then in March 2024 we hosted Soroksár and produced an excellent performance to win 4-1. Bence Nyitrai started the scoring, Kerezsi added a brace and Attila Lőrinczy scored our fourth. He also found the net against Soroksár in August, although on that occasion we suffered a 3-1 defeat.
Our most recent match against Soroksár will most likely go down, alongside Thursday's cup tie, as one of the year's most memorable games. We led 1–0 through Alex Szabó's early goal, but Soroksár turned the match around in the second half. Even from there, however, there was a way back: first we equalised through Króner's own goal, then Kevin Kántor's spectacular bicycle kick won the match 3–2.
