Our women's team face Budaörs at the Bozsik Aréna in their final match of the 2025–2026 season. Ahead of the last round, we spoke to our Greek international Maria Palama about the game, the season, and her own goals and career.

Our team host already-relegated Budaörs in the final round of the Simple Women's League. We last met Ferenc Horváth's side in April in a friendly, when we won 2–0 thanks to a brace from Eszter Czinege. Our opponents sit 12th in the table with seven points, so it is now certain that after one year they will be leaving the top flight again. Our team go into the match in seventh place.

“As for the final match of the season, we expect a difficult, hard-fought game against Budaörs, and of course we want to win. We will play at the Bozsik Aréna, and simply being able to step out in a big stadium is already a huge motivation for us, especially with the support of our fans. Hopefully we can finish the year with a smile and collect the three points,” – said our Greek player.

It has not been an easy season for our international player, as our defender was held back by tears to her anterior cruciate and collateral ligaments. She therefore made her first appearance in a Honvéd shirt only in the spring, in the derby against Újpest. Her fighting mentality was immediately evident: in her first match she helped the team by winning a penalty, then provided an assist in the friendly against Budaörs.

“The period after my injury was very difficult for me. Especially because I had already undergone surgery before, but this was different because the damage to my knee was more serious. When I signed for Honvéd, my goal was to come back stronger and help the team in every possible way, because I am very grateful to be here and for the trust they have shown in me. I arrived at the club injured, so that means even more to me. From the moment I stepped onto the pitch, I felt I was giving one hundred and ten per cent to help the team.”
