Tamás Feczkó had to do without several players for the trip to Békéscsaba, which caused particular difficulties in midfield. István Pekár was unavailable through injury, Tibor Szabó through illness and Kevin Kállai because of the four-match suspension imposed after the Kecskemét game. In addition, forward Kevin Kántor also joined the injured list with a minor problem.
The two sets of supporters created a fantastic, top-flight atmosphere at the Kórház utcai Stadium. In the fifth minute Igricz crossed following a free-kick, but Kuzma headed over. In the eighth minute our side also threatened from a delivery into the middle: Csontos crossed and Hangya's header ended up in Póser's hands. After just over half an hour Ujváry headed from Csontos's corner, but Póser was well positioned again. In the 35th minute there was some confusion in our defence, after which Zsolnai volleyed but sent the ball well wide. In the 39th minute another Csontos cross caused trouble for the hosts, Szamosi went down among a crowd of defenders in highly questionable circumstances, and although the ball bounced around in front of goal, there was no goal to celebrate. In the 44th minute it was almost a replay of the action from moments earlier: essentially the same scenes unfolded a few metres from goal, but once again we could not force the ball over the line.
In the 50th minute Szamosi glanced the ball into the home net, but the referee ruled the goal out for offside. In the 52nd minute Szamosi timed a through-ball perfectly for Medgyes, who ran beyond Major and finished superbly into the left corner (1–0). Two minutes later Hangya could have doubled the lead, but from a tight angle he found only the side-netting. We then settled the match in the closing stages: the home defence fouled Szamosi near the edge of the penalty area, and from the resulting free-kick the player who had been fouled laid the ball off for Ákos Zuigeber, who intelligently rolled a low shot around the wall and into the corner (2–0). Our defence passed the test with flying colours: Baki, Ujváry, Alex Szabó and Hangya all blocked or stopped opposition shots and attacks on several occasions. Our team managed the remaining time well and return to Kispest with a two-goal win and three points. It was our ninth clean sheet in the league and the victory keeps us top of the table. As Kecskemét lost at home to Ajka, the gap between the two teams is back to 12 points. Vasas travel to Mezőkövesd on Monday.
