The “Galloping Major” was not only a world-famous player but also Kispest through and through: his career began in the colours of Kispesti AC, where he showed his exceptional talent at a young age.
It was in Kispest that he became the player who would later conquer the world. He truly blossomed with Budapesti Honvéd, where together with his team-mates he became a defining figure of the golden age of Hungarian football. He won five league titles with Honvéd and earned recognition not only on Hungarian pitches but internationally as well.
With the Hungary national team – as the leader of the legendary Mighty Magyars – he achieved unparalleled success. He was part of the 1952 Olympic gold medal-winning side and also played a key role in the run to the 1954 World Cup final. His goals, football intelligence and leadership remain an example for every footballer to this day.
Ferenc Puskás's legacy, however, lives on not only in trophies but also in the spirit he carried with him from Kispest: passion, togetherness and love of the game. He always remained a Kispest man – and we will always be proud of him.
We preserve his memory with respect.
