Our second team will play three times in eight days in the NB III South-East Group. In the first match of that run, we hosted Monor, fifth in the league. Gábor Kovács handed debuts to two players in the starting eleven straight away, as 16-year-old Ferenc Ujváry and Márk Szelényi, who turns 18 in April, made their first NB III league appearances.
The visitors had the first opportunity at the end of the second minute, when Dominik Takács's low shot was heading towards the far corner but went just wide of the right post. The next chance also fell to the visitors, Horváth curling a right-footed effort from seventeen metres just past the top-left corner. In the 17th minute, Menyhárt tested the Monor goalkeeper with a long-range effort, but Tóth collected it confidently. The half ended with a one-on-one chance for Kristóf Kenéz. Our 17-year-old forward reacted sharply to a misplaced pass and aimed for the bottom-left corner, but his shot went centimetres wide. After the break, both teams put together several attacks, but the first truly major chance did not arrive until the 74th minute, when we also took the lead: Gáspár found Hetyei on the right, who beat his man and fired sharply into the far corner (1-0). The visitors tried to equalise quickly, but Imre Szegő's shot was blocked by his own teammate, ending Monor's chance to level. In the 80th minute, the visitors were reduced to ten men. László Benkő intercepted a back-pass, goalkeeper Bertold Tóth came for the ball but only managed to kick our forward's leg, and was immediately sent off. The freshly introduced Dulka had to make a big save from the resulting free-kick, tipping the ball behind for a corner, before Gincsai headed over from the corner.
We defeated Monor for the second time this season, and all three of our goals against the blue-and-whites have been scored by Szilveszter Hetyei.
Next, on Wednesday, we make up our league match against Tiszaföldvár, before visiting Dabas next Sunday.
