An important match awaited our team, who visited table-neighbors MTK Budapest in Round 13 of the OTP Bank Liga. Our side had won two of our last four matches and lost only one. With the exception of Ádám Somogyi, all our players were fit and available, and Maurizio Jacobacci, applying the 'never change a winning team' principle, fielded the exact same starting eleven as in last week's victory over Kisvárda. MTK parted ways with head coach Máté Pinezits during the week, with József Kanta taking over the reins, who made sweeping changes to his squad: our former player Zalán Kerezsi was left out, along with Hinora, Mikolay, Zeljkovic, and goalkeeper Bence Varga. Meanwhile, Ádám Nyers was included in the blue-and-whites' starting eleven for the first time since Round 7.
In the opening half-hour, our team played with great appeal and high intensity on several occasions, and in the 9th minute we took the lead from our very first major opportunity: our strikers missed Szamosi's cross from the right in the middle, but García collected the ball on the left, played it into the center, Pekár fired, and Marí brilliantly applied a backheel touch – scoring his first goal in Kispest colors – to flick it into the net (0–1). In the 29th minute, a free-kick from Csontos – who was dominating the midfield – whizzed just past the left post. MTK had to wait until the 37th minute for their first serious scoring chance, when Benedek Varju narrowly missed Patrik Kovács's cross from the left by inches, meaning Hadzikic did not need to intervene. In the 40th minute, our team took a short corner, Csontos swung the ball in, and György Komáromi diverted it unstoppably into his own net (0–2). At half-time, our head coach was forced into a planned substitution as Csontos had fallen ill towards the end of the week; the well-performing midfielder was replaced by Reda Eddarraj. In the 53rd minute, Tamás Somogyi's shot flew narrowly wide of the target, our young midfielder missing by just a fraction. Two minutes later, MTK launched a dangerous attack, but Nyers failed to make proper contact in front of goal; however, moments later, what Fortuna had given earlier was taken away: following Varju's cross, the hosts pulled one back essentially out of nowhere through Komáromi (1–2). In the 59th minute, Somogyi had another attempt on goal, this time on target, but Fadgyas denied him with a superb save. In the 73rd minute, Bognár played a great pass to Kerezsi, who hit the right post as he fell. Ten minutes later, two substitutes combined for MTK's equalizer: Hinora leveled the score from Klausz's pass (2–2). No further goals were scored in the remaining time, meaning the blue-and-whites remain behind us in the standings, though we could not build a larger advantage over them either. Following the international break, our next match will take place on November 22, when we host Paks at home in the Bozsik Aréna.
