We will not be without a friendly during the October international break either: this time we welcome Radnik Bijeljina, currently fifth in the Bosnian top flight, on home soil.
The Blue and Whites have played ten league matches so far this season, recording 3 wins, 4 draws and 3 defeats, and at the weekend they celebrated a 1–0 victory over third-placed Zeljeznicar. The biggest success in the club’s history dates back to 2016, when they won the Bosnian Cup. Radnik Bijeljina have been champions of their country’s second division four times. This is their second consecutive season among the elite; last season they finished eighth in the 12-team top flight. Their leading scorer so far is Serbian foreign player Luka Cumic, who has found the net three times. The team is coached by Bosnian Dusko Vranesevic, who took charge in April and has a record of 7 wins, 7 draws and 6 defeats in 20 matches.
Before Bosnia and Herzegovina gained independence, we met Bosnian teams several times in international cup competitions. In 1966 we suffered two 1–0 defeats against Zeljeznicar; two years later, again in the Mitropa Cup, Celik Zenica were our opponents, with both sides winning their home match 3–0; then in 1983, a 2–2 draw against Sloboda Tuzla was followed by a 1–0 defeat.
