On Sunday we host Vasas FC at the Bozsik Aréna in Round 29 of the Merkantil Bank Liga. Ádám Nyers spoke about promotion, defining moments in his career and the upcoming derby.

After the league match against Szeged, the players, coaching staff, club employees and supporters were able to celebrate together after achieving our most important goal: next year we can continue in the top flight. Our young player, however, has had an even busier period than his team-mates, because the day after the Szeged match he faced another important test at school.

“After the final whistle I still did not know that we had been promoted. The others told me on the pitch that we had done it. Obviously we were very happy and it felt great to celebrate together with the supporters. I think this is a special moment in every footballer's career. Afterwards we also celebrated together in the dressing room. Unfortunately I was no longer on the bus because I had my school-leaving exam the next day, but it still went really well.”

Our player was already part of the first-team squad in the 2024–25 season, although he did not get playing time then. This season, however, he has become an important member of Tamás Feczkó's side: he made his debut both in NB II and in the MOL Hungarian Cup, scoring twice in the league.

“I started summer pre-season with the senior team, but at that point I had not yet managed to make enough of an impression to play. In the winter I again began preparations here, I was able to perform well in the first league game and from then on I played regularly with the first team. I did not expect it, but I am happy that in the second half of the season I could also become an important part of the promotion.”

Only two rounds remain in the season. Our team are currently second with 56 points, five behind leaders Vasas. We finish the week with a derby on Sunday, hosting Gábor Erős's side at the Bozsik Aréna in Round 29 of the Merkantil Bank Liga.

“We want to win this match just like all the others. Vasas have opened up a bit of a gap, and our last two matches ended in draws. Our goal is victory, so we will do everything we can. If the league situation develops that way, we would like to become champions, but unfortunately it is no longer entirely in our own hands.”
