Ádám Nyers gave us the lead in the 28th minute, and although the Angyalföld side equalised from the penalty spot shortly afterwards, our 18-year-old was on target again after the break following a pass from István Pekár. In the 79th minute Kevin Kántor replaced Nyers and, from Dominik Csontos's corner, glanced the ball into the right side of the goal with his first touch to make the final score 3–1.
“We did everything for the win. Of course Vasas are a team we have always wanted to beat whenever we have played them. We are very happy that we won,” summed up Ádám Nyers. Our home-grown player came close to completing a hat-trick: after a pass from Kevin Kállai he shot from 12 metres, but the ball struck the crossbar.
“Of course the win comes first. Yes, I hit the bar and there was another occasion when I let the ball run through my legs. I regret those moments, but I do not want to be greedy either. What matters is that we managed to win.”
István Pekár also played an important role in the victory over Vasas, contributing two assists and numerous ball recoveries.
“I'm happy that our chances finally came off; that is something we had really been missing. We had not been in a good run recently, so I am glad we were able to overcome that. I think today everything came together for us. Fortunately our transitions were good and the result followed. We are very happy,” – said our 22-year-old midfielder.
The gap between the two teams has been reduced to two points, so the league title will be decided in the final round. Vasas host Ajka, while our team travel to BVSC-Zugló.
“Our goals are unchanged: we want to win every match and the final one will be no exception. We hope Vasas lose to Ajka, and then our only job will be to win our last match as well.”
