The Veterans began the season as defending champions with a confident 6–1 win over a strengthened Dunaharaszti side. We started in early-season form, but the players quickly found their rhythm. At times we attacked with ten men, which allowed two or three situations to develop in front of our goal. We avoided conceding thanks to big saves from Komora and a spectacular tackle by Kamber. Late in the first half Andric struck twice: first from close range, then with a magnificent effort into the near top corner – the best goal of the evening.
The Kispest onslaught continued in the second half: Kamber first scored a superb goal from the right inside channel, then Bárányos and Krisztián Kovács also found the net. Andric completed his hat-trick, proving that Honvéd still have a reliable goalscorer even in Youla's absence. Dunaharaszti had the final say: Hegyes pulled one back in the 80th minute to make the final score 6–1. Kispest created numerous chances and the result could even have reached double figures. Honvéd therefore opened the new season like champions, with a convincing performance.
We host Budatétény on 15 September (Monday) at 19:30.
