While on Monday evening Honvéd's management made important announcements at Bozsik Arena, the Old Boys team were preparing for an important clash against major rivals MTK. The Kispest side produced an excellent performance and claimed an emphatic 6–2 victory.
Honvéd were already 2–0 up after five minutes. Patkó, playing again after a long absence, and Trembulyák scored the opening goals. The hosts pulled one back through Kanta in the 35th minute, but Lannert also found the net before the break, so the teams went in with Honvéd leading 3–1.
After the break Honvéd made several substitutions and, led by Andric, increased the tempo. Patkó scored Honvéd's fourth goal early in the second half. In the 50th minute Andric thoroughly turned his defender, who lost sight of the ball and only saw it again when it flew into the net. A spectacular goal! In the 69th minute Bárányos made it 6–1. Villányi pulled one back for the hosts in the 72nd minute, but by then it was only enough to make the scoreline slightly more respectable.
Honvéd BKE recorded a deserved and important victory, built on a fantastic first half and a superb second. In their next match, the team will host Ferencváros.
