A Hungarian Cup winner with Honvéd is returning to Kispest after our club purchased Kesztyűs Barna's registration rights from Nyíregyháza Spartacus, meaning the defensive midfielder can wear the Honvéd shirt again after a little over three years.
“Things developed quickly in the final days of the transfer window, but I felt good when I heard that Honvéd would be happy to have me – began Kesztyűs Barna. – I spent two years at the club and really loved being here. I grew fond of Honvéd and the people working here. I developed a lot both as a person and as a footballer in Kispest, so there was no question: I am happy to return.“
Kesztyűs Barna, who celebrates his 31st birthday on Tuesday, began his career at Paks and also played in Nyíregyháza and Budaörs before joining our team in the summer of 2019. In his first season he made 29 league appearances and eight Hungarian Cup appearances for a Honvéd side that won the cup and finished fifth in the league, while in his second season he played 15 league matches and three cup games. Thanks to his experience, work rate and selfless play for the team, he can again be an important member of Honvéd in the period ahead.
“Winning the cup is a very nice memory and we also did well in the league then. Of course I could say it would be good to experience something similar again, but now what matters is that we have a stable team and keep moving forward – stressed Kesztyűs Barna. – The goal is to play as much as possible and help the team. Anyone who knows me knows that individual goals are not what matter to me, but that we are successful together. I am considered an experienced player, so I also need to help the youngsters. I see myself as someone who gets along with everyone and I would like to pass on one or two things I have already experienced that can help them. Last season I played in NB II, while up to now I have featured in all six of Nyíregyháza's NB I league matches, but I absolutely do not look at this transfer as moving from the first division to the second. What I feel much more strongly is that Honvéd has set off on a new path and I want to be part of it. I have returned with good feelings, I am positive and motivated, and I am looking forward to working together!“
