Our first-team squad has been strengthened with a forward after the club signed our former academy player Sebestyén Ihrig-Farkas. The 30-year-old striker spent three years at the Hungarian Football Academy, played for Italian side Parma at a young age, and then returned to Kispest for another year and a half from the summer of 2014. Sebestyén Ihrig-Farkas made his NB I debut with us (against DVSC in October 2014), before going on to play for Kozármisleny, Békéscsaba, Budafok, Vasas and most recently BVSC.
“I am very happy to have been able to return to Honvéd, because I came through the academy here, made my top-flight debut here, and ever since I left I always had it in me that it would be good to come back one day – said Sebestyén Ihrig-Farkas. – I am happy to be here. I have joined a very good dressing room, which I would especially like to highlight because I have twice been part of a promoted team and the foundation of success is the right dressing room and a good atmosphere. I see great potential in the squad. Of course, we need time, but I have positive feelings and I trust that we have a good season ahead of us. I did not do pre-season with the team, so I still have to catch up. I am very grateful to the Honvéd staff, Fanni Máriás, Barbara Kolozs and Krisztián Szabados for their work; they are helping me a lot so that I can get into good shape as quickly as possible. Alongside the talented youngsters, there are a few of us in the squad who have already been through a thing or two. I feel I have developed enormously over the past eight years, and I want to prove that on the pitch and make use of my experience.“
