Sixteen-year-old Viktor Petrók and Levente Kubicsek, who arrived from Komárom, both made their debuts for our NB III side, while Bence Kovács was named in the starting line-up for the first time.
The first half produced almost exclusively Kispest chances. In the fourth minute Pálfi saved Petrók's shot, then a cross from the left glanced off the head of a visiting player and caused danger in front of the Kecskemét goal. As the 30th minute approached, Hetyei had opportunities: our forward headed narrowly wide after a corner, then not long afterwards shot from the inside-right channel, forcing Pálfi into his best save of the half. In the 34th minute Földi combined with Menyhárt and, at the end of the move, poked the ball goalwards with the toe of his boot, but his effort went narrowly wide.
We continued to control the match after the break and took the lead in the 61st minute: Menyhárt had a free kick from 18 metres and expertly curled the ball with his right foot into the bottom-right corner (1-0). We could have settled the match soon after the goal, but Pálfi made two excellent saves. First the visiting goalkeeper punched away a ball coming in from the right, then at the end of another fine Kispest move he again saved his team from conceding. The purple-and-whites punished our missed chances in the 71st minute when Péter Kovács found himself through on goal and calmly rolled the ball into the bottom-left corner (1-1).
That set the final score. In a week's time we continue our league campaign away at Tiszaföldvár.
