We defeated Videoton FC Fehérvár 2–1 in Round 16 of the Merkantil Bank Liga.

After a long wait, the spring part of the 2025–26 Merkantil Bank Liga season finally began for us as well. There could be no complaints about the atmosphere: despite the bone-chilling cold and the late Monday-evening kick-off, nearly 4,000 supporters came to the Bozsik Arena, while the North Stand once again prepared a wonderful tifo for the match: 'We have only one goal', alongside 'KHFC' accompanied by a giant lion’s head on the banner. As for the line-ups, Tamás Feczkó was still without István Pekár due to illness and Ádám Gyurcsó, who was struggling with a minor injury. In their positions, Barna Kesztyűs – for the first time since November 30, 2024 – and new signing Kevin Varga were given the chance to prove themselves, while Ádám Szamosi returned to the starting line-up in a competitive match for the first time since the November 2 league game against Soroksár.

In the 13th minute we won a corner, and the pairing that is slowly becoming legendary struck again: Csontos delivered the ball into the middle, and Ákos Baki rose like a high jumper – just as he had in the opening round in Székesfehérvár – to beat everyone to it and head home from close range (1–0). Three minutes later came the response, when Varga managed to flick on Zsótér’s miscued ball and Dániel Németh finished from close range into Tujvel’s net (1–1). In the 23rd minute the visitors again mounted a dangerous attack, with Haraszti striking the right post. Tamás Feczkó made two changes at half-time, sending on Ádám Nyers and Kevin Kállai. After the restart our team began the half with far greater dynamism. In the 49th minute Medgyes tried to beat Nagy with an overhead kick, but the Fehérvár goalkeeper saved his centrally directed effort. Then, in the 54th minute, we won another corner. Varga swung the ball into the middle and, from the loose ball, Csontos reacted quickest and guided it into the middle of the goal with his weaker foot (2–1). In the 76th minute the Bozsik held its breath for a moment: Haraszti aimed for the top-right corner and missed by only centimetres, his shot striking the post for the second time. There was no further twist, however, so we remain unbeaten at home and, with Vasas dropping points in Csákvár, our lead over the chasing pack at the top of the table increased to five points.

Match highlights:

Tamás Feczkó:

I am very happy that we were able to start the spring season with a win. We managed to beat a very well-prepared Vidi side. In the first half the equaliser came very quickly after our goal, which did not help our game. Initially we were not able to break them down either; they closed the spaces very well. At half-time we had to change the way we built our attacks, and I think that worked well because we managed to get in behind them many times, although we could not create a real goalscoring chance. For both teams, determination was the dominant factor. On two moments of extra class from Zsolt Haraszti, we needed the Kispest goalpost to be on our side. In the final 15 minutes, when our aim was already to protect the result, we also had to change our system so that we could collect second balls somewhat more effectively and continue to put pressure on the opposition defence. We are satisfied with the result because we beat a very good team, but we still need to improve our play.

Tamás Pető:

I think those who came out had a very enjoyable evening; it was a real derby. Both teams played very well, and perhaps we were a little closer to winning because we had more chances. We conceded two goals from two lapses in concentration, and that is not permissible away to a title contender; they punished us for it. Perhaps that is one reason they are where they are. I congratulated my team; for 90 minutes we tried to put pressure on the opposition. I think we are capable of much more. If we continue to play like this, the results will come.
