Although the start of the NB I season is now not far away, the board has caught up with its outstanding business and selected the best player for May. As is known, our management has presented the award since November, when Csontos Dominik and Medgyes Zoltán became the first recipients, sharing the honour. In February our 42-year-old goalkeeper Tomás Tujvel came out on top, in March the award went to 19-year-old midfielder Szamosi Ádám, while in April the management decided not to name a winner because of the team's weaker performances. Three matches in May (Szeged, Vasas and BVSC) were considered when deciding the award, and on that basis Pekár István received the recognition. Our midfielder, who can also play in defence, featured in all three games. His work off the ball played a major role in keeping a clean sheet in Szeged as we celebrated promotion, and then – somewhat surprisingly – he also supplied two assists in the 3–1 derby victory over Vasas.
Pekár's work rate, attitude and effective play were a major help to the team throughout the season, and it is fitting that he received the award in May, the final month of the previous campaign.
Congratulations, Peki!
