As is known, our women's team have come through a busy but successful spell, playing three matches in the space of a week: they drew 0–0 away to PAFC, then secured progression in the Hungarian Cup semi-final – against DVTK – meaning they will play in the final again after ten years. Although Balázs Dörnyei's side suffered a 1–0 defeat to MTK last Saturday, our player stressed that they still saw several positives in their performance. She added that the cup success gave the team not only motivation but also confidence.
“This will be my first Hungarian Cup final, which is a huge honour and at the same time enormous motivation for me. As a child, everyone dreams of one day playing in a match like this. I am really looking forward to it and want to get as much out of it as possible. I think the last few weeks have already given the team a lot of confidence, but reaching the final gave us a massive boost. Not only for me, but for many of my team-mates this will also be a first cup final.”
Franciska Simon joined our club from Astra HFC last summer. She has made 24 competitive appearances for Honvéd, starting 23 of them under Balázs Dörnyei. Our defender has scored four goals in all competitions in the 2025–2026 season. She highlighted that the team want to achieve the best possible result both in the final and in the league.
On Saturday our team face DVTK again, but this time in front of our home crowd at the Bozsik Arena, looking to recreate the excitement of the cup success.
“DVTK are a physical, well-prepared team and are always difficult to play against. I am sure they will be even more determined to prove themselves after failing to reach the final. For us, however, there is no other objective than to win the match and keep all three points at home” – our player summed up.
Our women's team will play their remaining home matches this season at the Bozsik Arena. According to Franciska Simon, taking the field in the stadium of our historic club will be a fantastic experience.
“It is a big dream for everyone to be able to play in a stadium like this at a club with such a rich history. I think it can give the team a huge boost, because playing in such beautiful surroundings is an amazing experience. As a little girl, everyone dreams of playing in a stadium like this, so I am really looking forward to it.”
