As previously reported, we drew 3–3 at home to MTK Budapest on Saturday. Ádám Szamosi, Ádám Somogyi and Dominik Csontos scored against the blue-and-whites. Although we came close to winning, Máté Pinezits's side equalised in the 96th minute, leaving us with one point from round two of the OTP Bank Liga. Our 18-year-old player stressed after the final whistle that there is still room for improvement, but this performance gives us something to build on.
“I think we played well, and obviously scoring three goals is a very good thing. We need to improve when it comes to the goals we concede, but I believe we can build on this performance. It would have been good to go into the dressing room at half-time without conceding. Unfortunately that was a mistake on our part, because we were the better side at several points during the game, created plenty of chances and could have scored more than three goals. These are the things we'll have to watch out for in the future." – Ádám Somogyi reflected.
Our midfielder has had an eventful few weeks: he recently extended his contract with the club by three years, then made his top-flight debut alongside his brother Tamás Somogyi at Kisvárda. Against MTK, he drove the ball into the bottom-right corner from a good twenty metres after receiving a pass from his younger brother.
“I'm never completely satisfied with myself. I always try to give more and keep improving, because for a young player the most important thing is to keep contributing something extra to the team. Obviously the goal was a step forward compared with the previous match, and in the next game I'll be aiming to score even more goals, play more good passes and produce an even better performance.”
