As is known, on Monday we played a goalless home draw against Soroksár SC in Round 27 of the Merkantil Bank Liga. As a result, our team moved to within three points of Vasas, who have already secured promotion.
“I am angry. There was much more in this match. Unfortunately, one point is not enough to achieve our goals, but we move on and now we are focusing only on Szeged. In our heads it is not promotion but winning the league title. Obviously, things would have been easier if we had won and taken the three points, but we keep going. Vasas have a three-point lead, but we still play them and we definitely have to win that match, and we also have to win our next three games.” – Alex Szabó summed up after the match.
A crucial match awaits Tamás Feczkó's team on Sunday: on our final trip outside Budapest we face Szeged-Csanád Grosics Akadémia, where victory would mathematically secure our place in the top flight. We last faced the Csongrád side in the autumn, in Round 13, when the match ended goalless.
“I think Szeged are a much better team than their current league position suggests, so I expect a difficult match. We have to focus on our own game and collect the three points.”
