At the weekend you scored your first league goal for Honvéd, giving us an early lead against Soroksár. What does it mean to you?
We had a rehearsed corner routine, I arrived where I needed to and fortunately made good contact with the ball. I really needed this goal for my confidence because, although I had played in a lot of matches, I had not been much of a goal threat. I am happy I managed to score, and I hope this breaks the barrier and I can score many more goals for Honvéd.
Is scoring goals this important for a defender as well?
Scoring is a great feeling, but it is more important to me that the team wins. I was very happy that both happened at the weekend.
Keeping a clean sheet or heading the winning goal? Which would you choose?
Heading the winner, because then we are guaranteed to win.
Two new players, Ákos Baki and Bonifác Csonka, arrived to strengthen the defence in the winter. How is the understanding between you?
Fortunately, we managed to get used to one another quite quickly during pre-season. It is good that I can play in the centre with players who are more experienced and older than before. In the autumn we were younger, so there was more responsibility on me as well; now I can play with a little more freedom. Ákos came from NB I and is an experienced player, but I could mention Bonifác too. We have a good understanding, we often see situations the same way, and we discuss them before and after training as well.
Do you feel more comfortable in a back four or a back three?
I have played in both systems before, for Honvéd and for the U21 national team as well. Neither is a problem for me, I like both.
We travel to Mezőkövesd at the weekend. What kind of match are you expecting?
Kövesd have a very good squad, they are stable and compact. We want to win away from home, because our victory over Soroksár would really be worth a lot if we could take all three points from their ground as well. That would also mean moving above them and climbing out of the relegation places.
