We are delighted to announce that Alex Szabó has extended his contract with our club by a further two years, until 2028. After spells in Jászárokszállás and Gyöngyös, Alex signed for Kispest in 2018. In his first season he played for our U17 and U19 teams, and from there his path to the senior side was uninterrupted. In the 2020-21 season he made his debut in both NB I (Budapest Honvéd FC–Mezőkövesd Zsóry, 1–1) and the Hungarian Cup. He spent the following season at Merkantil Bank Liga side Szolnoki MÁV, then returned to begin pre-season in Kispest. From the 2022-23 campaign onwards, he steadily earned more and more of a place in Honvéd's starting line-up. Our defender, capped 16 times at youth international level, has made a total of 99 competitive appearances in Honvéd colours (18 in NB I, 72 in NB II and 9 in the Hungarian Cup) and has become an absolute key player in Tamás Feczkó's team.
