Three rounds have been played in the 2026/27 OTP Bank Liga so far, and we have drawn with Kisvárda, MTK and Paks. Our captain, Ádám Szamosi stressed that we could not be disappointed with the three points collected so far, but continuing strongly against Vasas would be crucial.
“I think the glass is half empty. We could have won one or two of those matches, but we could also have lost, so we cannot be dissatisfied with three points. Obviously, what matters is how we continue against Vasas. Those three points would be much more valuable if we could add another three on Friday "he said, adding that he was pleased to have helped the team as a starter in each of the past three matches.
“I am very happy that I have been able to build on what we achieved last year. Of course I am glad to have started this season knowing the coaches count on me as a starter. But it is an even bigger recognition that they are relying not just on me but on the other young players too. We went into this season with a young Hungarian team, and I am trying to make the most of that trust and repay the opportunity to start.”
Our 19-year-old midfielder has taken on the captaincy this season, but says nothing else has changed apart from his new role.
“It is a different league, but I do not think anything has changed. My role may have changed slightly because I now wear the armband, but we still have the same characters in the dressing room, everything still works the same way and everyone is still hungry for success. We are carrying that mentality forward, but that takes every single player, not just me.”
The home league match against MTK Budapest produced several memorable milestones: Tamás Somogyi registered his first assist, while Ádám Somogyi and Ádám Szamosi scored their first NB I goals. Our player says the adrenaline meant he barely remembers the goal itself, but the experience will stay with him for a long time.
“I always have so much adrenaline when I score that I can hardly remember the goals afterwards. I definitely remember Zui’s pass—Ákos Zuigeber, ed.—because it is so easy for an attacking player when you receive a ball like that. But I remember the atmosphere: the people were so happy that an NB I goal had finally been scored at the Bozsik again, and that made me incredibly happy too.”
On Friday we host Vasas FC at the Bozsik Aréna in round four of the OTP Bank Liga. We have met the Angyalföld side 180 times in the top flight, with a record of 65 wins, 45 draws and 70 defeats.
“We need to be ourselves and keep playing our own game. We have to correct the mistakes we made in our last match. It will certainly be a completely different game, but Vasas have not had an easy time against us in recent years either.”
