Our club lodged an appeal, which the Hungarian Football Federation took into account, but it had no discretion when ruling on the decision.

Due to a well-founded suspicion of a disciplinary offence, the chairman of the Disciplinary Committee (FEB) of the Hungarian Football Federation (MLSZ) ordered disciplinary proceedings against the sporting organisation Honvéd FC Kft. in connection with the Honvéd FC Kft. – FC Csákvár Kft. NB II men's senior full-pitch league match played on 24 August 2025.

The disciplinary body finds that Honvéd FC Kft., the sporting organisation subject to the proceedings, committed the disciplinary offences set out in Section 37(1)(a) and (b), Section 39 and Section 40(1) of the Disciplinary Regulations (FSZ).

In addition to our club receiving a substantial fine, ‘the disciplinary body further orders, pursuant to Section 10(5)(c) of the FSZ, the enforcement of decision FEB – II – 2/2025 (08.05.), namely the closure of the Bozsik Aréna “B5” sector for the sporting organisation's next one home NB II men's senior full-pitch league match in accordance with Section 57(7)(a) of the FSZ.’

The main element of the penalty imposed by the MLSZ was related to the use of the term ‘cigány’. According to the federation's wording, “the use of the term ‘cigány’ is a chant of a degrading tone concerning Roma people as an ethnic group; it portrays members of the group negatively and violates their dignity. Accordingly, the behaviour of the home sporting organisation's supporters clearly conveys discriminatory content based on racial and ethnic origin and has no place in football. In connection with its present decision, the disciplinary body again wishes to emphasise that it regards racist supporter behaviour at a league match as an exceptionally serious disciplinary offence and will punish it strictly in order to prevent further occurrences. The sporting organisation subject to the proceedings submitted a substantive defence on 29 August 2025 within the deadline set out in the FSZ, pursuant to Section 45(1)(c)2), and the defence complied with the requirements of the regulations. Accordingly, the disciplinary body took its contents into account when adopting the decision and informs the sporting organisation subject to the proceedings as follows. Under the FESZ, the disciplinary body is required to order the enforcement of the suspended sector closure imposed in decision FEB – II – 2/2025 (08.05.) – it has no discretion – for the following reasons.

According to Section 10(5)(c) of the FSZ:

c) If, during the probationary period, the offender commits another offence of a similar nature and severity, the competent disciplinary body shall order the enforcement of the original disciplinary measure. This shall be added to the disciplinary sanction imposed for the new offence.”

“The sporting organisation committed the disciplinary offences under Sections 39(1) and 40(1) of the FSZ because its supporters engaged in racist behaviour when, in the 86th minute of the match, they chanted the expression ‘Cigányok’ 11 times and in the 90+4th minute 12 times.”

In this connection, we note that our player Alex Szabó is expected to be sidelined for 4–6 weeks, while Bence Somfalvi, who committed the foul, received a four-match league suspension.

We draw our supporters' attention to the fact that any further repetition of infringements within six months may result in more severe sanctions: implementation of a prevention plan, sector closure, one or more matches behind closed doors, points deduction, prohibition on staging matches at a particular stadium, declaring a match lost, exclusion from the competition, or relegation to a lower division. Where appropriate, several of the above sanctions may be applied together.

We also inform our supporters that the MLSZ Competition Committee will provide information at a later date regarding the scheduling of our match against Kecskemét, which was abandoned on Sunday.
