The opportunity to bounce back comes quickly after the home defeat to Kecskemét, as Tamás Feczkó's side travel to Békéscsaba on Saturday. The purple-and-whites have performed much better in the spring than they did in the autumn. Sándor Csató's team won only twice in 15 rounds during the first half of the season, but have won half of their six matches this spring. In 2026 Békéscsaba have been beaten only by teams in excellent spring form: in-form Videoton and our pursuers Vasas both managed only 1–0 wins at Kórház utca. Békéscsaba have also beaten Soroksár, BVSC and most recently Budafok very comfortably, while they returned from Szeged with a point, helping them move out of the relegation zone in recent weeks.

We last hosted the purple-and-whites in a league match in 2016, winning 2–1.
The two clubs met in the 1988 cup final, where a goal from current Békéscsaba head coach Sándor Csató proved decisive as Békéscsaba won 3–2.
Last season we played the purple-and-whites again after a long break and drew 1–1 away from home, with Norbert Pintér replying to Benedek Simon's opening goal.
In the April return fixture, now under Tamás Feczkó, we settled the game in the first half. The second half was also memorable because Tomas Tujvel saved a penalty before 16-year-old Zsombor Liziczay replaced him in goal.
