Three of our age-group teams celebrated victories at the weekend, while our U14s shared the points at home.

U19

Márton Bogdánfi's team recorded its first win of the season on Saturday with a four-goal home victory over ETO FC. Thanks to a brace from Milán Balaskó, our side had already built a two-goal lead in the first half, before Milán Miták and Rupert Komlósi also found the visitors' net after the interval. Our academy players are next in action on Friday at 14:00, when they continue their campaign at the Kisvárdai Várkerti Stadion in the next round.

Elite Championship, Round 2

Kispest–Honvéd FC–ETO FC 4–0 (2–0)

Line-up: Czinki – Rankó (Domján 65.), Ferencz, Horváth Á., Csörgő, Miták (Varga Z. 58.), Érsek (Bokor 58.), Meskó (Komlósi 58.), Horváth-Garaba (För 65.), Balaskó, Russnák

Our goalscorers: Balaskó (7.) (38.), Miták (50.), Komlósi (64.)

Márton Bogdánfi, head coach:

“We definitely wanted to improve on last week's performance, and that was how we worked throughout the week. We knew Győr had a strong side, but we managed to prepare well for them and took the opportunities we worked to create. The first half was evenly balanced, Győr had slightly more of the ball, but our team defending worked very well and in transitions we were consistently the more dangerous side, which allowed us to score two goals. We gained a numerical advantage before the break, which effectively decided the match. We controlled the game throughout the second half and managed to score two more goals, so we deserved the victory.”

U17

Our U17 team began its league campaign in Kisvárda, where it recorded a convincing 4–1 victory. Our academy players continued at home in Round 2 of the elite championship and were able to celebrate another win: two goals from Martin Vérten and one each from Kornél Solymos and Hunor Hajagos secured a 4–2 victory over Vasas Kubala Akadémia.

Elite Championship, Round 2

Kispest–Honvéd FC–Vasas Kubala Akadémia 4–2 (3–0)

Line-up: Székely – Marinyák, Érsek (Domány 70.), Barton, Solymos (Meggyes 76.), Vérten, Jakab (Hegyes 57.), Rotár (Hajagos 57.), Völgyi, Szijjártó, Szabó (Babalola 76.)

Our goalscorers: Solymos (8.), Vérten (18.) (19.), Hajagos (67.)

Viktor Petrók, head coach:

“We did not start the match the way we wanted. We played without enough concentration and looked flat, and our opponents forced us into technical mistakes on several occasions. Once our play improved, we used the available spaces well and put together some good attacks.Unfortunately, in the second half, knowing we had a three-goal lead changed our approach. There was too much individual play, which caused our game to fall apart. We rushed things, wanted to finish attacks too quickly and had too little possession.”

U16

Tamás Szamosi's players were away to Várda Labdarúgó Akadémia on Saturday and, just like our U17 side, left Kisvárdai Várkerti Stadion with all three points. We did not have to wait long for the opening goal, with Márton Menyhárt giving us the lead in the 9th minute. Although the hosts equalised, a brace from Milán Malomsoki decided the match.

Elite Championship, Round 2

Várda Labdarúgó Akadémia–Kispest–Honvéd FC 1–3 (1–2)

Line-up: Szabó A. – Palásti, Török ( Sólyom 53.), Nyiri, Schill (Balázs P. 68.), Józsa, Menyhárt, Vass (Bolyki 68.), Gerebenes (Varga B. – at half-time), Szabó D., Malomsoki

Our goalscorers: Menyhárt (9.), Malomsoki (20.) (85.)

Tamás Szamosi, head coach:

“From the start of the match we imposed our will. We had a lot of possession and allowed the home team very few opportunities. We converted our chances at a good rate and, thanks to that, scored three goals that were pleasing on the eye as well. I am especially happy that everything we have worked on in training recently was reflected in the match this time. I am satisfied with the players' attitude and performance, and I congratulate the team on a deserved victory!”

U15

After a 4–1 victory over DVTK, our U15 age group travelled to Győr but could not bring the three points home, as Djordje Kamber's team lost 2–0 to the green-and-whites. Our head coach stressed that the opponents punished us for the chances we missed.

Elite Championship, Round 2

ETO FC–Kispest–Honvéd FC 2–0 (0–0)

Line-up: Mező – Karácsony, Oláh-Sebők, Marte, Kovács, Rodek, Csiba, Németh, Rácz, Hanzély, Kamber

Djordje Kamber:

“This was one of those matches where football punishes you for missed chances. We could have been at least 2-3 goals ahead in the first half, but we could not score. We were not focused enough with our finishing. We also started the second half well, but in the end football punished us and our opponents took the lead through an unfortunate own goal (1–0). We still managed to create several chances afterwards, but unfortunately none of those resulted in a goal either. Before the end of the match the opposition scored their second from a counter-attack and won 2–0. Unfortunately, we were missing just a little more concentration and sharpness in this game. We learn from every match and will work to make sure these mistakes are not repeated in the future.”

U14

Our U14s drew 1–1 at home with MTK Budapest in a closely contested match. The visitors took the lead in the 23rd minute, but Dávid Izing's goal brought us level and the match ended with the points shared.

Elite Championship, Round 3

Kispest–Honvéd FC–MTK Budapest 1–1 (0–1)

Line-up: Pándi – Babos, Balla, Nyerges, Pályka (Szilágyi 41.), Márta, Walkó (Gál 41.), Izing (Várdai 58.), Juhász G. (Juhász B. 63.), Németh F. (Krapfel 63.), Marsalla (Varga O. 58.)

Our goalscorer: Izing (49.)

Richárd Takács, head coach:

“We played a high-tempo, closely fought match against MTK in which both teams had periods when they were able to gain the upper hand in midfield and create dangerous opportunities in front of the other goal. We conceded an unfortunate goal in the first half, after which our play became hurried, but overall it is a positive that we were able to get back into the match and played with great heart throughout, with the game ultimately ending in a fair draw.”
