Márton Bogdánfi, head coach: “I am not making excuses for us, we played poorly, but in Várda we also had to deal with conditions that shouldn't necessarily be present in an U19 Elite Championship match. We must learn from this as well. I wish Olivér Barton a speedy recovery!”
U17
Our U17 team hosted Újpest at the academy in Round 3 of the Elite Championship. Viktor Petrók's side took the lead through Botond Rotár, and three minutes later Hunor Hajagos found the net for the hosts. Our U17s thus remain unbeaten in the championship, sitting at the top of the table.
Elite Championship, Round 3
Kispest–Honvéd FC–UTE 6–2 (3–2)
Lineup: Székely – Marinyák, Solymos, Hegyes, Vérten, Domány (Jakab 66'), Rotár, Völgyi, Hajagos (Meggyes 66'), Szijjártó, Szabó (Babalola 75')
Our goalscorers: Rotár (22'), Hajagos (25'), Vérten (31'), Szabó (56'), Solymos (65'), Meggyes (78')
Viktor Petrók: “In this match, we fell into the trap of changing our mindset and attitude once we had a multi-goal lead, which resulted in playing with many mistakes in the second half of the first period. The half-time break came at a good time; the quality of play improved in the second half, but we must understand that our core principles, attitude, work ethic, and discipline cannot be dictated so heavily by the scoreline.”
U16
Following a 3–1 win over Várda Labdarúgó Akadémia, our U16s traveled to Újpest, where they played out a goalless draw with the purple-and-whites. Head coach Tamás Szamosi emphasized that a draw was a fair result considering the overall run of play. Our academy side now head into the next round in fifth place with four points.

Tamás Szamosi, head coach: “Considering the overall picture of the match, sharing the points was completely deserved; both sides had their chances. Towards the end of the second half Újpest had slightly more possession, but we had more and better scoring opportunities, where we unfortunately made poor decisions. Both teams deserve credit, as they fought hard and competed bravely throughout the entire game.”

We came close to scoring in the opening minutes, took an early lead, and maintained our momentum while ahead. Thanks to this, we consistently created clear-cut chances throughout the entire game, and even though we didn't capitalize on many of them, we still secured a comfortable win. I would also like to express my gratitude to my colleague, Árpi Kovács, who sacrificed another free weekend to help our team!”
