1. Let us start at the beginning, because the Budapest Honvéd FC–OPUS TIGÁZ Tatabánya match on 4 August is our team’s 1st home league match of the season, and we hope as many of you as possible will come to the game. Tickets can be purchased both online and in advance in person; you can read the ticket information here.
40 years ago, Budapest Honvéd won the seventh league title in the club’s history (Andrusch, Sallai, Nagy, Garaba, Varga, Sikesdi, Gyimesi, Détári, Bodonyi, Dajka, Esterházy – many can recite the line-up from memory), which also marked the beginning of Kispest’s second golden era, as we collected seven championship titles in nine seasons.
To mark the 40th anniversary, we will honour the members of the 1983/1984 championship-winning team. You can meet them before the match at Lipták Grund between 17:00 and 18:00 (where you will have the opportunity to collect autographs and take photos together), while at half-time the legends will also walk out onto the pitch.
115 years ago, on 3 August 1909, Kispesti AC was founded, launching football in Kispest on its (world-conquering) journey and giving the sport a succession of outstanding players. Our beloved club has celebrated fourteen league titles, eight cup victories and one Mitropa Cup triumph, and has supplied 103 players to the Hungary national team.
To mark the club’s birthday, from 16:00 we will have various games and sporting programmes for you at Lipták Grund by the Golden Lion statue. There will be face painting, balloon modelling, a bouncy castle, a photocell speed-measuring goal, opportunities to recreate memorable photos and a Honvéd puzzle waiting for you.
