Several key players were missing from Honvéd BKE's Old Boys side against BAK due to injury and other reasons. Bábik, Máj, Lázár, Andric, Trembulyák, Lukács and Patkó were unavailable, so the team once again began the match with a heavily depleted line-up. Even so, victory was never in danger.
For the first quarter of an hour, the visitors' defence stood up well to Honvéd's attacks, and it was not until the 19th minute that it was finally breached: Youla gave us the lead (1–0). Before the break, Krisztián Kovács doubled the advantage, so the teams went in with the home side leading 2–0.
Honvéd dominated the second half, and two quick goals from Csaba Tóth (58th and 68th minutes) all but settled the contest. Although the visitors pulled one back in the 67th minute, the destination of the three points was already beyond doubt. Djordje Kamber scored the final goal of the match to complete the 5–1 scoreline.
Among our rivals, Ferencváros lost 1–0 away and MTK suffered an 8–0 home defeat. As a result, Honvéd returned to the top of the table after one week, one point ahead of the FTC, MTK and Pénzügyőr trio.
In the next round, on Tuesday October 7, B&K Mélykút will be our opponents at the Angyalföld Sports Centre.
Although the kick-off time almost coincided with our NB II team's match, the boys learned the result in time, with the roar coming from the Arena clearly signalling success.
