Kevin Varga started the 2025–26 season with NB I side Nyíregyháza Spartacus before joining our club at the beginning of the year. The internationally experienced attacker revealed that the community as well as the professional work of our head coach Tamás Feczkó played a major role in his decision to move to Kispest.
“Honvéd is a Hungarian club with a great history that is now on an upward trajectory again, and the team also has a very good community. I already knew Tamás Feczkó personally and consider him a very good professional as well as a very good person. I felt that all of this together made it the perfect choice for me. The team is currently in a very good position. Having seen what goes on behind the scenes – how the training sessions are run, the harmony within the team and how closely knit the players are – it is clear that the objective is promotion to NB I. NB II is a difficult league, everyone knows that and nobody underestimates the opposition. We know that the Budapest Honvéd name means a lot, and every team, whoever and wherever we play, will raise their game against us” – said the 29-year-old footballer, adding that our team can look forward to the spring season after a well-structured pre-season in which both the physical and tactical elements received major emphasis.
“I think the squad is very strong; there are at least two players of similar quality for every position. There is a lot of competition out wide, which is completely healthy within a team and is necessary as well, because we will play many matches and we are still involved in the cup.”
The player stressed that his primary aim is to fully settle into the team, but for the time being he does not want to set long-term targets; his current focus is on promotion to NB I.
“Obviously I am no longer a young player, but I do not consider myself old either; I think I am at a very good age. I would like to establish myself at Honvéd and fully integrate into the team. For now I do not want to set long-term goals; at most I am looking as far ahead as the summer. Promotion and the league title are important. Honvéd has a large fan base and I feel this team absolutely belongs in NB I. Our goal is to take the club back to where it belongs.”
