Although Megyeri made a superb save in our goal early in the first half from Sztankó’s shot, and the team in blue could not break down our defence for more than an hour, they took the lead in the 68th minute when Zádori headed in Zabari’s cross from the left (1–0). In the closing stages Attila Ekker’s side sealed the match: Czirok received the ball on the right and, from a tight angle, blasted it powerfully into Megyeri’s net (2–0).
Our team remains seventh in the South-East Group standings and can make amends away to Csepel on Sunday in the next round.
Head coach Gábor Kovács’s assessment: In today’s match we managed to implement very little of the elements we had practised during the week and we made many individual mistakes. We need to take a hard look at ourselves individually, as a team and as a staff. The home side fully deserved their victory. All that remains for us is to congratulate the hosts and wish them every success in the race for the league title.
