Although our team had secured promotion several rounds earlier, last week's victory over Vasas FC meant the final stage still carried significant stakes: a win for us combined with an Angyalföld defeat against Ajka would have brought the league title. In a less realistic scenario, a six-goal Honvéd victory together with a Vasas draw against Ajka would also have taken us to first place. All away tickets for the match had sold out by midweek, so nearly 1,500 supporters accompanied the team to Zugló. Tamás Feczkó, however, made major changes to his starting line-up, with Ákos Zuigeber, Ádám Szamosi, Botond Schön, Kevin Kántor and Bence Varga all given the chance to prove themselves compared with the previous round.
In the 5th minute Gyurcsó raced down the left and drove the ball across the face of goal, but the home defenders managed to clear. In the 12th minute Kántor pounced on a loose ball and, with excellent timing, pushed it past the exposed Petroff inside the penalty area. Although the BVSC goalkeeper guessed the right way from the resulting penalty, Csontos Dominik soon put us ahead with a goal from 0–1. In the 17th minute Dénes tried his luck from a tight angle, but Tujvel held the effort. The hosts equalised in the 31st minute: Törőcsik received the ball inside the box, turned and blasted powerfully into the centre of the goal (1–1). Just moments later the home side completed the turnaround. Our former player Balázs Farkas kept his composure in front of goal and passed to Vértennek , who made no mistake from point-blank range (2–1). In added time Alex Szabó tried his luck from 18 metres towards the top-left corner, but Petroff produced a fine save to punch away the long-range effort. After the break Tamás Feczkó made two changes, but the next blow came quickly: following a cross from the left, Dénes Adrián headed into the right corner (3–1). We had to wait until the 79th minute for our first serious chance of the half, when substitute Medgyes fired just centimetres wide of the left post. The hosts then scored again late on, as in the 86th minute Dénes cut inside and, after his solo run, found the bottom-left corner (4–1). We had not conceded more than two goals in any match during the season. The result also confirmed that we finish the 2025–26 Merkantil Bank Liga season in second place and, after three years, our team will once again play in the top flight next season.
