Major achievements: Second-tier bronze medal (2022/23), four-time third-tier champions
FC Ajka have made a very poor start to 2026, losing all four of their competitive matches so far and failing to score a single goal. Another notable fact is that they have suffered the most defeats in the league (11) and have scored by far the fewest goals (12), yet thanks to their six wins they remain above the relegation zone, three points and two places ahead of Békéscsaba. Ajka's head coach is József Csábi, a three-time Hungarian champion and one-time cup winner as a player, who was also head coach in Kispest in the 2014-15 season. Interestingly, this is the third consecutive season in which he returns to Bozsik Aréna with a different team as an opponent: in 2023/24 he visited as Kazincbarcika coach, and in 2024-25 as BVSC manager.
Ajka's squad changed again during the winter, with only two former Honvéd players remaining in the green-and-white ranks: Dominik Cipf and Nikolasz Kovács.
Shared match history:
We have faced Ajka more frequently in recent years. Until 2020, the clubs had met in only two friendlies, both won by Kispest: 4-1 in 1970 and 4-3 in 2006.
Over the past five years, however, no fewer than ten matches have been played between the two clubs. In summer 2020, we drew 2-2 in a friendly at the Ajka Municipal Sports Centre, with Kristóf Tóth-Gábor and Barna Kesztyűs scoring our goals.
That four-goal draw was followed by friendlies in Kispest. In 2021 we won 1-0 through Gergő Nagy's goal, while the teams drew 1-1 in 2022. Interestingly, our goal in that match was scored by Nikolasz Kovács, who now plays for Ajka. In summer 2023 we again hosted Ajka in a friendly and completed a confident 3-0 victory.
In November 2023, by then in a league match at Bozsik Aréna, we hosted the green-and-whites and Gergely Bobál's goal decided the three points.
Honvéd–Ajka 1–0 (highlights)
During the winter period the two teams met again in a friendly, which produced an eventful 2-2 draw. Ábel Krajcsovics scored for us, while Bence Jagodics put through his own net.
In May 2024 we played in Ajka for the third time, but for the first time in a competitive match. Goals from Ábel Krajcsovics and Zalán Kerezsi gave us a 2–0 win, but that remains our most recent victory over the Bakony side.
Ajka–Honvéd 0–2 (highlights)
Three defeats have followed since then: in summer 2024 they won 2–1 at Bozsik Aréna, last year they beat us 2–0 at home, then in August Kirchner's long-range strike gave them a 1–0 victory.
