Our opponents were Tiszakécskei LC, champions of the NB III South-East group. Both of our summer signings so far, Ákos Zuigeber and Bence Varga, were immediately named in the starting line-up.
The first more dangerous opportunity came in the 18th minute, when Ákos Szabó's flicked header went wide of the visitors' goal. The biggest chance of the opening half-hour was also a Kispest header: new signing Ákos Zuigeber headed from close range, and Szmola tipped the effort, which was heading under the crossbar, behind for a corner. After the corner, our other summer signing, Varga, headed wide. Our dominance produced a goal in the 32nd minute: Zoltán Medgyes held up the ball inside the penalty area and found Zuigeber, who fired low into the bottom-left corner from thirteen metres (1-0). Tiszakécske did not manage to create a chance in the half, but we were able to double our lead. Benedek Simon won the ball in his own half before finding Noel Keresztes, whose superb cross-field pass sent Medgyes Zoltán through, leaving him with the routine task of converting the one-on-one as he rolled the ball past Szmola into the bottom-right corner (2-0).
Tamás Feczkó changed the entire team for the second half, giving mostly young players the chance to prove themselves. Experience in the centre of defence was provided by Branko Pauljevic and Bonifác Csonka, while Ferenc Ujváry made his first appearance for the first team. The visitors created two chances early in the half: with his first opportunity, Tamás Takács took the ball past Rácz and rolled it towards the empty goal, but it eventually bounced out off the post; a few minutes later he placed another effort wide. The match was finally settled in the 83rd minute, when Erik Kovács found Pinte, who calmly lobbed Baráth to score our third goal (3–0).
"There were elements of play that we had practised during the week, and they came through very well in the first half. I was pleased that we scored two goals there and also had another two or three big chances, but it was frustrating that there were situations we did not solve the way we should have. In the second half it was clear that our young players still need to gain a great deal of experience before they can help the first team" – said our head coach, Tamás Feczkó, whom we also asked about Ákos Zuigeber, who marked his debut with a goal.
„We are happy that he got on the scoresheet, but we also signed him to score as many goals and provide as many assists as possible. We hope he can maintain this form.”
