Our second team suffered a 3–2 defeat against league leaders Gyulai Termál FC in Round 9 of the NB III South-East Group.

Following their fantastic victory against Újpest FC II, István Körtvélyesi's side traveled to Gyula to face the leaders of the South-East Group. As the highest-scoring team in the division boasting a flawless record, Gyulai Termál FC presented what we knew would be a serious test on their home turf.

Our team took the lead as early as the 10th minute through Kristóf Kenéz, and we didn't have to wait long for the second either, as he found the net again barely a quarter of an hour later, doubling our advantage (0–2). Our 19-year-old player now has three goals in the 2026–2027 season. The hosts responded quickly, however, pulling one back with a header from Krisztián Zádori (1–2). In the 42nd minute, Bonifác Csonka received his second yellow card, leaving us a man down. Despite this, our boys stood their ground and went into the break with a one-goal lead. After the restart, Dominik Máris whipped a cross into the middle, and following an unfortunate touch, Álmos Horváth turned the ball into his own net (2–2). In the closing stages, the match looked destined to end in a draw, but in the 94th minute, following a free kick, Attila Ekker's team snatched the winner. The late goal decided the encounter, sending our side home from Gyula empty-handed (3–2).

István Körtvélyesi, head coach:

„In the first half of the match, we were able to play at a very high standard; our tactical approach was dominant for about 40 minutes. We managed to build a commanding lead, then the match changed with the sending-off, but fortunately, we still managed to go into half-time ahead. In the second half, an unfortunate own goal quickly leveled the score. The opponent's numerical superiority turned into passive dominance, while we defended deep and solidly, looking to break forward either individually or through neat interplay. This worked very well in the closing stages of the game: we could have taken the lead three times, but the final passes let us down. Then, following an avoidable foul, our opponents snatched the victory. The match offers valuable lessons, both positive and negative, for everyone who played any part in this contest. We conceded avoidable goals from individual defensive errors, but the mentality and focus were there. Playing with ten men for 45 minutes against an experienced side is truly commendable and definitely a positive sign for the future. Our play and the players' individual form are improving, and we will keep working!"
