As you know, after our narrow victory over PMFC there was little time to recover because the Simple Women’s League continued with a midweek round. Four-time cup winners ETO FC visited Kispest on Wednesday. The green-and-whites had recorded convincing victories over DVTK and PAFC in the previous two rounds, so we knew another tough match awaited us.
In the eighth minute, following a corner from Dóra Süle, Silva Bonfim aimed for the top right corner but sent her shot over the bar. Shortly afterwards, the side from the River Rába threatened again, but Krizsan positioned herself well and made the block. Our 19-year-old goalkeeper also produced a superb save, confidently stopping a powerful attempt from Cintia Öreg from 25 metres out. In the 26th minute, Petra Nyul delivered a superb ball onto Sára Krisztin’s head, but the visitors’ goalkeeper Dorina Borok dived to keep out our captain’s header. Although Borok subsequently tipped Rebeka Róth’s shot away from under the bar, we took the lead two minutes later through Maria Palama. Following Fanni Vachter’s corner, our Greek defender was first to the rebound and fired into the bottom right corner from 16 metres (1–0).
We went into the second half a goal ahead, fully aware that the visitors would continue to make life difficult for us. The green-and-whites equalised in the 63rd minute: Maria Palama blocked Melissza Szabó’s shot, but Rebeka Sali curled the ball into the far corner from 16 metres (1–1). Late in the game, Levandrea Williams launched a counterattack after a Győr corner. After carrying the ball for some 60 metres, she passed to Fanni Vachter, arriving on the right. Vachter feinted a shot and then calmly rolled the ball into the net (2–1). Tamás Preszeller’s team equalised in added time through Dóra Süle to make the final score 2–2 . Our team had never previously taken a point from ETO FC, but this time we finally broke that run.
Our women’s team next play on Sunday, when we visit Újpest in Matchday 5 of the Simple Women’s League.

Balázs Dörnyei, head coach: “We prepared for this game determined to take at least a point. Our play has improved enough compared with last year for us to cause problems for our opponents. That was the case in the first half. We changed one or two things at the break: we allowed them slightly more space at the back, deliberately pressed them less and did a good job of taking their playmaker Csilla Savanya out of the game. The glass is half empty, but I am proud of the girls because they worked incredibly hard."
Fanni Vachter: “We went into today’s match knowing that ETO FC are competing for the title, so we were hosting a strong side at the Bozsik Arena. The fact that we managed to take the lead twice shows our team’s strength and progress. This point still feels a little bittersweet, but that feeling will change because we have drawn with a team that has a real chance of winning the title."
