Last Saturday, we celebrated our second victory of the season after beating PMFC 1–0 away from home. There is no time to relax, however: four-time Hungarian Cup winners ETO FC come to Kispest on Wednesday, and we then play away at Újpest on Sunday.
“I think we already felt this in Matchday 2 against Szekszárd: our second goal was hard to come by, and in Pécs we again faced a fairly deep, well-organised defence. Especially in the second half, we had chances to score more goals, but unfortunately we couldn’t take them. I hope the time will come when the floodgates open and we can play a little more freely,” she said, reflecting on the past two rounds. She added that the team has also made physical progress compared with last season.
“We’ve improved physically and have also been able to strengthen the squad again with players who are a real asset to the team. With so many players staying on, we’ve developed as a unit too, so we can perform with greater confidence in the tighter matches.”
We can always expect a tough game against the side from the River Rába. We last faced ETO in the spring. Although we were three goals down at half-time, Fanni Vachter and Gyöngyvér Szalay both scored in the second half. We were unable to complete the comeback, however, and lost 3–2.
“Győr have one of the strongest squads this season, so I expect an intense, hard-fought match. I hope we can show how much we have developed since setting out on this path last year.”
