On Friday, Balázs Dörnyei's side played away at Viktória FC. The previous round could hardly have gone worse for the team from Vas: they lost 5–0 away to PAFC, while Szekszárd beat DVTK 3–0 and moved ahead of the Szombathely side. Edina Hérincsné Markó's team therefore entered the opening match of Round 21 from 11th place, so we could be certain our opponents would do everything they could to avoid relegation.
The hosts took the lead through Emília Csejtei as early as the 12th minute, but after the break our captain Fanni Vachter equalised (1–1). It was the 24-year-old forward's 17th goal of the 2025–2026 season in all competitions. The match ended 1–1, leaving us seventh in the league with 26 points. We finish the season at home next Saturday when we host Budaörs at the Bozsik Aréna.

Balázs Dörnyei, head coach: “It is difficult to assess a match like this. We produced a very poor first half: we were flat, rushed and slow, and did not move Szombathely's defence enough. At times like this you have to be critical, and I am part of that too. I did not choose our two wide players well, but that is my responsibility because I put them in the team. They could not support our play down the flanks properly. We made changes at half-time and the game looked completely different. We had many opportunities from set pieces and from open play. We had to play from behind, but fortunately we managed to equalise and we had chances, even in stoppage time when we had two opportunities to score. We are sad because we can no longer reach our target of fifth place. That feels very bad. During the week we will try to lift the girls because each of them experiences it differently that we have failed to win for a second match despite having both games in our hands.”
Rebeka Róth: “We are very disappointed that we produced such a poor first half and failed to take all three points. The positive is that we managed to equalise, but overall this was far too little today. We are also disappointed that in recent matches we have created so many chances but have not been able to convert them. Unfortunately we cannot change that now. We have one match left in the season, so we will focus on preparing for it as well as possible.”
