Our women's team suffered a 1–0 defeat away to MTK Budapest in Round 15 of the Simple Women's League.

Our team could prepare for Round 15 of the Simple Women's League in confident mood and on the back of success: last Saturday we earned an excellent draw in Felcsút, then on Wednesday, after a 1–1 scoreline at the end of normal time in the Hungarian Cup semi-final against DVTK, we won the penalty shootout 4–3, meaning our team will contest the final again after ten years. Balázs Dörnyei made several changes compared with Wednesday's line-up: because of the packed schedule, he gave opportunities to those who had previously spent less time on the pitch.

In the fourth minute Eszter Czinege sent Eszter Csáki through, but the home goalkeeper held our 19-year-old player's shot towards the top-right corner. Soon afterwards Eszter Czinege tried to repeat her midweek heroics and score the opening goal, but Evelin Erős dealt with that effort too. We came close to taking the lead in the 10th minute: after Gyöngyvér Szalay's pass, Nelli Szilvási curled an effort towards the bottom-right corner and, although Erős stretched fully, the ball went just wide of the post. Our opponents created their first serious chance in the 14th minute, but our Swedish goalkeeper Agnes Stenlund intervened well and held Siklér's centrally directed shot. The hosts took the lead in the 22nd minute: Fanny Vágó delivered a free-kick into the area and, although Stenlund got a touch to the ball, Eszter Csigi rolled the rebound into the net (1–0). After the goal play took place mainly in our half. In the 40th minute Adelina Molnár took a corner and our goalkeeper tipped her delivery away from under the bar. We came close to equalising late in the first half: Nelli Szilvási calmly laid the ball off to Blanka Bokor, who aimed for the top-right corner but fired over the bar.

Our head coach made two changes at the break, with Fanni Vachter and Petra Nyul replacing Nelli Szilvási and Fanni Földvári. In the 57th minute Stenlund managed to punch clear after a corner from Fanny Vágó. Although the match had reached the 74th minute we had been unable to create a major chance, while Benjámin Lázár's team came close to settling the destination of the three points. Although we managed to threaten and put our opponents under pressure in the closing stages, we were unable to equalise and therefore left the Sándor Károly Football Academy without a point.

Balázs Dörnyei: “We started the match very well. In the first half the team looked very good both in possession and in terms of shots. MTK perhaps had one opportunity, but unfortunately we conceded again after a very frustrating individual error, in a situation where we could have played the ball out. We did not collapse, though; we did everything we could to earn a point away to MTK. The players fought until the final minute. This was our third match in the space of a week and we can be proud of them; they put in an enormous amount of hard work on the pitch. In the second half we were not enough of a goal threat and the fatigue showed, especially mentally."

Nelli Szilvási:  “I was very happy to be able to start and I would like to thank the coaches for their trust. I'm very proud of the girls, everyone gave absolutely everything. We played a very closely contested match in which we would have deserved a goal, but nevertheless congratulations to MTK."
