Under the MLSZ decision, from Saturday, August 1, 2026, until further notice, all NB I, NB II and NB III league matches will kick off at times that significantly reduce energy consumption, particularly by avoiding the need for floodlights. The latest time at which a match can be played without artificial lighting is 17:30.
If kick-off cannot be adjusted in a way that achieves a significant reduction in energy consumption, the match or other indoor football event concerned will be postponed. When making changes, the MLSZ will consult the clubs involved and, for televised matches, the broadcaster.
The aim is for matches to finish in natural daylight, avoiding the use of stadium floodlights and substantially reducing the energy consumed by sporting facilities.
The Hungarian Football Federation believes that, in the current situation, everyone in society must take responsibility for reducing energy consumption. Through this responsible measure, Hungarian football is also contributing to coordinated action and voluntary restraint across society, helping to manage difficult circumstances and prevent more serious consequences.
We will inform the public without delay of any affected matches and their actual kick-off times following consultation with the clubs concerned. The uniform kick-off time recommended by the MLSZ is 17:30.
The Federation asks all clubs, players, supporters and everyone concerned for their understanding and thanks them for their cooperation.
