Lilien Borzák: I want to prove myself to both myself and the team

We spoke to new signing Lilien Borzák about her arrival, settling in, her debut against MTK and the upcoming home match.

As previously reported, Lilien Borzák recently joined our club alongside Linett Bozsik, Hanna Alasz and Jázmin Csizmadia. The 19-year-old midfielder developed at the MTK Budapest academy, progressing through the age groups before making her top-flight debut against Videoton FC Fehérvár in the 2023/24 season.

“Changing teams after so many years was difficult, but fortunately my new teammates have been very welcoming and positive towards the new players. From our very first training session they cheerfully asked us how we were doing, which made settling in much easier. Ever since then I have felt really comfortable in the group and at training. I look forward to proving myself on the pitch too. I have already met several players while representing the national team—for example, Eszter Csáki and Petra Nyul—and I am happy that we can now play together at club level as well.”

Our young player made her Honvéd debut against her former club last Saturday,

“We opened our league campaign against MTK last Saturday. When I saw the fixture list, I was surprised that my first match in Honvéd colours would be against my old club, but I was really looking forward to it and am happy I got to make my debut,” she said, adding that the team had been disciplined defensively and that training this week had focused mainly on building attacks.

Our women’s team hosts Szekszárd FC at the Bozsik Aréna in its first home game of the season. We last faced the Tolna county side in April, when we secured a 6–0 win thanks to a hat-trick from Eszter Csáki and goals from Anna Sain, Eri Narita and Petra Gégény.

“I am delighted that we get to play in the stadium. It is especially exciting for me to play in such a beautiful venue. We have been preparing at full intensity all week for the game against Szekszárd. It would mean even more to us if we could get our first win of the season.”
