Our women's team began the spring successfully, winning 2–0 away to Viktória FC in the Hungarian Cup quarter-final and securing a place in the semi-finals, where we will face DVTK. The opening goal was scored by Eszter Czinege, who joined at the start of the year and found the hosts' net in the 13th minute. After the break, Fanni Vachter doubled our advantage. It was the 22-year-old forward's first competitive goal in Honvéd colours.
“We managed to progress, which once again showed the unity of the team; we fought for one another on the pitch. I am happy I could contribute with a goal, but the most important thing is qualification” – said our player, adding about her debut that she had not expected the match to go quite so well for her.
“Well, perhaps I only dared dream of it. I did not think it would go this well. I am trying to repay the trust I receive from the coaching staff. I want to play as much as possible and help the team."
After the cup competition, our spring league campaign also begins: on Saturday we host Kész-St. Mihály-Szeged at the Budapest Honvéd Academy in Round 13 of the Simple Women's League. Szeged are fifth in the league, nine points behind fourth-placed ETO, while our team resume the campaign in ninth with 13 points. The two clubs have met three times in total, with our record standing at two wins and one defeat. Ahead of the match, Eszter Czinege stressed that she expects a high-intensity game where fine margins could decide the outcome.
“On Saturday we host Szeged, and as always our aim is to win. I think we can prepare with the right level of confidence because the friendlies went well, as did the cup match. We are really looking forward to it and are excited. My most important objective is to get as much playing time as possible, help the team and achieve the greatest possible success together.”
