Gábor Kovács named 20-year-old Balázs Rácz in the starting line-up straight away after he returned to Kispest during the week. Rácz left Honvéd in the winter of 2022 and has since played in both the top flight and the second tier for DVSC, Szeged, Kozármisleny and most recently PMFC.
We could have taken the lead right at the start of the second minute, when Balázs Rácz worked the ball on the left and curled an effort just wide of the far post. Ten minutes later we threatened again: Koppány Kis's cross from the left was headed clear by the home defence, before Átrok tried his luck from 20 metres but failed to hit the target. The biggest chance of the match up to that point came in the 26th minute. László Benkő lofted the ball forward, but the retreating Miklós Balogh headed it straight into the path of our striker Kristóf Kenéz, who managed to shoot towards the right corner despite being surrounded by three home defenders, only for Dávid Reizer to make a huge clearance in front of the goal line, keeping the game scoreless. Less than a minute and a half later came another chance, as goalkeeper Gábor Horváth gave the ball away and Kevin Polák threaded an accurate pass between four defenders to Balázs Rácz, who shot first time, but Horváth saved with his foot. Our returning forward was very active and threatened with a header in the 30th minute after a cross from the left, but the ball went wide. In the final quarter of an hour of the half the home side tried to take the initiative, but they did not create a big chance until the final seconds, when an attack down the right ended with an effort crashing against the crossbar.
After the restart we had to wait 13 minutes for the first major opportunity, a left-footed volley from Polák that Horváth pushed behind for a corner. There were fewer chances in the second half, but Gyetván also had work to do in goal when he palmed Dominik Takács's cross away to the side. In the 78th minute our team gained a numerical advantage – although, as it turned out, only briefly – when the referee showed Norman Szabó a straight red card. Just over ten minutes later Bálint Juhász had to produce the same card again, as our substitute striker Szilveszter Hetyei headbutted an opponent in midfield and was also dismissed immediately. In added time both teams had a match-winning chance to take all three points. For us, Barnabás Menyhárt's long-range effort flew past the left post, while the home side's corners carried danger. Béla Balogh's team first reached a header, then a blocked shot and finally an effort blasted over the bar, but neither side could find the goal.
Our team therefore left the Sport Street Stadium with one point and will continue the league campaign at home in a week's time against Gyulai Termál FC.
