Hungary international Fruzsina Schildkraut will continue her career with our women’s team

Our women’s squad has been strengthened with a goalkeeper who has considerable NB I experience, after 26-year-old Fruzsina Schildkraut joined Budapest Honvéd. She made a total of 82 top-flight league appearances for Szeged and DVTK, spent the last half-season playing abroad, and has also won three caps for the Hungary national team.

Krisztián Korozmán, head of women’s football: “Fruzsi has a great deal of top-flight experience. It is important that she can pass that experience on in the dressing room to players who are either competing at the highest level for the first time or have only played there a little so far. She will be a great help to our team.“

Fruzsina Schildkraut: “I grew up in a sporting family. My father was an elite athlete (former Hungary international volleyball player Krisztián Schildkraut – ed.), my sibling started playing football at the age of four and I joined in as well. For a while I played volleyball and football in parallel, but eventually I chose the latter. After playing for the youth national teams, I made my senior international debut in 2020, and I am very proud to have achieved that. After my spell in Turkey, I did not feel that I had to play abroad at all costs, and Honvéd’s approach was very appealing. There is great potential in the team, the conditions are good, we do quality work and the team spirit is exceptionally strong, so it is good to be here. As newcomers, the goal in our first season is to secure our place in the division, but I think we can aim higher than that as well. As for me, I want to keep improving individually, help the team, and I will work so that I can also be considered for the national team.“

Martin Masaryk, head coach: “I am very happy that we managed to sign a new goalkeeper and also that Fruzsi chose us. We have strengthened in this position as well and will be stable there in the new season. She has significant experience in the Hungarian league and has also represented the national team; she is a quality goalkeeper. In training you can also see how she constantly tries to help her team-mates, and I am sure we can continue to develop together.“
