The final match of the season did not start well for us, as the visitors took the lead in the second minute through Vivien Nagy-Cseke. The match was a matter of survival for the side from Tolna, who were fighting to stay up, and that was reflected in their play. In the 38th minute our opponents doubled their lead when Vivien Nagy-Cseke scored her second, so Szekszárd led 2–0 at half-time.
We pulled one back after the break, with Gabriella Kós scoring in the 56th minute (2–1).
We could not celebrate for long. Ten minutes later Szekszárd struck again, Brianna Nicole Taylor making it 3–1 to the visitors. We did not have to wait long for their fourth either; after a corner routine Nagy-Cseke completed her hat-trick and the scoreboard showed 4–1.
In the 81st minute we finally reduced the deficit through Karla Kurkutovic.
Szekszárd deservedly won 4–2 and secured survival, while our team finished in eighth place.
Gabriella Kós's assessment: “This was our final match and we really wanted to finish with a victory, but unfortunately luck was not on our side today. We had many chances and good moments, but this time they did not result in success. It was an instructive match that we can and must build on in the future.”
