Our women’s team beat FTC-Telekom U19 5–3 in Friday’s friendly at the academy.

Our team played an exciting, goal-filled match against Ferencváros. We threatened as early as the 18th minute, when the visiting goalkeeper saved Vachter’s shot. Fradi took the lead in the 20th minute, however, when Árvay scored from a corner to make it 0–1.

We did not have to wait long for the equaliser. In the 26th minute, after a pass from Vachter, Krisztin found the net – her first shot was saved by the goalkeeper, but she converted the rebound to make it 1–1. We had more to celebrate late in the half: in the 45th minute Vachter calmly finished an attack, allowing us to go into the break with a 2–1 lead.

The second half did not start well for us, as Tóth equalised in the 48th minute (2–2). The team responded quickly, though: in the 53rd minute Koszo put us back in front, 3–2. Eight minutes later, in the 61st minute, Koszo scored again following a Vachter free-kick to make it 4–2.

Ferencváros did not give up and Nikol pulled one back in the 64th minute (4–3). We had the final word, however: in the 81st minute Vachter confidently converted the awarded penalty to complete the 5–3 final score.

Next Saturday we travel to Pécs in round 9 of the Simple Women’s League.

BUDAPEST HONVÉD FC–FTC-TELEKOM U19 5-3 (2-1)
Scorers:
Krisztin (26.), Vachter (45., 81.), Koszo (53., 61.) – Árvay (20.), Tóth (48.), Nikol (64.)

Honvéd: Whitmore – Róth (Nádudvari 62.), Koszo (Földvári 62.), Csáki (Kerekes 62.), Krisztin (Grace 62.), Szalay, Szilvási (Feil 62.), Vas (Nagy 62.), Sain, Vachter, Simon.

Head coach: Balázs Dörnyei

Balázs Dörnyei: “I had mixed feelings about this match. In attack, a lot of what we worked on during the week came through. We focused mainly on our attacking play because I feel that is the area where we still need to improve the most. This time, though, we went a little too far the other way and made big mistakes at the back. In a friendly that may perhaps still be acceptable, but I continue to believe that we can only be truly successful if we keep opponents close to zero at the back. It is pleasing that we were able to score goals against a very strong Ferencváros side – that is important. At the same time, we still need to work on the balance before next week so that our defending is also really solid and the attacking football we want to play can be genuinely effective, starting against Pécs.”

Réka Feil: “I’m happy that I was finally able to come on and help the team. We managed to create a lot of chances and convert several of them, which I’m very happy about. I feel the week’s preparation went well and everyone gave their all. Now we are focusing on the next match, and I hope we can win that one too.”
