The closing match of Round 20 in the Simple Women’s League produced a thrilling finish: although the teams went into the break at 0–0, four goals arrived late on. Our women’s team drew 2–2 with PMFC.

Our women's team brought a busy, hard-fought and emotional week to a close. As is known, on Wednesday we faced Ferencváros in the Simple Women's Cup final, where we suffered a 3–0 defeat against the reigning league champions and finished the competition with a silver medal. There was little time for recovery, as in the closing match of Round 20 of the Simple Women's League we hosted PMFC at the Bozsik Aréna. Our team went into the match seventh in the table with 24 points, while Zsolt Németh's side were only one point behind us, so it was clear they would do everything they could to earn points.

In the 10th minute our captain, Fanni Vachter, took the first corner of the match, and shortly afterwards Franciska Simon controlled the ball before firing right-footed, but visiting goalkeeper Noémi Török had no trouble holding the shot. Not long after, Simon crossed into the middle for Eszter Czinege, whose glancing effort caused no danger to the goal. Although much of the half was played in Pécs territory, we were unable to create any truly clear chances. In the 35th minute Franciska Simon released Petra Gégény, who crossed into the middle, but a visiting defender managed to clear. In the 39th minute, after an accurate cross from Petra Gégény, Fanni Vachter headed at goal, but Noémi Török was again able to save.

After the restart Petra Nyul found herself in a shooting position inside the penalty area, but once again the Pécs goalkeeper dealt with the effort. Following a Simona Horváthová set piece, the opening goal nearly arrived, but Eszter Czinege's header struck the post. In the 66th minute Petra Gégény played the ball to Czinege, who shot toward the top-right corner, but the ball flew over the bar. Another chance came in the 74th minute: after controlling the ball, our captain brilliantly beat the Pécs defenders, but Noémi Török produced an excellent save from her shot heading toward the bottom-right corner. The goals then came one after another in the final ten minutes: PMFC took the lead in the 80th minute through Lili Bódis, but our player Eri Narita supplied a quick response (1–1). Samantha Tristan's goal into an empty net put the visitors ahead again, but Levandrea Williams helped us draw level (2–2).

BUDAPEST HONVÉD FC–PMFC 2–2 (0–0)

HONVÉD: Krizsan, Czinege (Narita 66.), Róth (Vas 75.), Csáki, Nyul (Szalay 75.), Horváthová, Williams, Gégény, Vachter, Bokor, Simon

PMFC: Török, Bolboaca, Gyánó (Bódis 55.), Máté, Kardos (Horváth 92.), Bocz, Kiss, Farkas (Kövesdi 76.), Acsádi, Égi (Tóth 55.), Tristan

Goals: Bódis (80.), Narita (81.), Tristan (83.), Williams (87.)

Balázs Dörnyei, head coach: “It was a very interesting match because, in practice, both in the first half and the second we had plenty of opportunities — from open play and from set pieces — to decide the game before this flurry of goals even began. We did not make good decisions in front of goal, and the opposition goalkeeper also produced a very strong performance. A positive is that we managed to come back twice after the opponent had taken the lead. We have to build on that, but the fact is that by the time the first goal was scored we should already have been two or three goals ahead. We had several clear chances and we were also dangerous from set pieces. We will go home disappointed because the 2–2 final score does not reflect the pattern of the match. The team put a huge amount of energy into this game."
