Simple Women's League, Matchday 5:
Budapest Honvéd FC - FTC-Telekom 1-3 (1-1)
goalscorers: Csuhai (4.), Nagy (38.), Kubassova (84.), Garcia (91.)
We started the match against Ferencváros more boldly and took the lead through Csuhai as early as the fourth minute. We kept up the momentum after that and had some promising attempts, but we were unable to score again. Schildkraut produced save after save in goal. In the 38th minute, however, Nagy was left completely unmarked and Fradi managed to equalise. We therefore went into the break level at 1-1.
After the restart, Schildkraut was once again the main protagonist, standing firm brilliantly against the green-and-whites' attackers. Then, midway through the second half, Csuhai tried her luck again, but unfortunately fortune was not on our side and the ball struck the post. Our team held out superbly until the 84th minute, when Kubassova's goal put Ferencváros 2-1 ahead. In stoppage time Schildkraut produced another outstanding intervention, making two saves in succession, but Garcia converted the second rebound, meaning Ferencváros eventually won the match 3-1.
We came within a whisker of a major upset, of earning a point as newcomers or even beating the defending champions – this performance is certainly something we can build on.
In the next round, on 28 September, we will again play at home, hosting Soroksár on the MFA centre pitch.
Well done, girls!
