A difficult task awaited our reserve side in round 10 of the NB III, as third-placed ESMTK arrived in Kispest on the back of six consecutive league victories.
We had to wait just under ten minutes for the first opportunity, when Bencze had to push Sebestyén Ihrig-Farkas's powerful effort from around twenty metres behind for a corner. Our defence stood firm throughout the first half and the visitors from Pesterzsébet were unable to create any major chances. In the 29th minute, however, Dúzs had to gather a low shot from the right, and the teams went into the second 45 minutes with the score still goalless.
Our first serious chance again came from a long-range effort, as Teó Balázs's right-footed strike from twenty-one metres came back off the crossbar, our player coming close to one of the goals of the season. Barely two minutes later another Kispest opportunity followed after a throw-in from the right. Tibor Szabó flicked the ball into the middle and Barna Kecskés fired straight into Bencze's hands from six metres. Not long afterwards, though, the visitors had no answer. This time Ihrig-Farkas appeared on the right wing, and with the help of an ESMTK defender his cross found Kecskés, who teed the ball up for Botos. From 16 metres he picked out the top-left corner with geometric precision, the ball bouncing down beyond the goal line off the post to give us the lead (1–0). In the 75th minute there could have been another, as Ihrig-Farkas received a perfectly weighted pass before shooting from seventeen metres, but the ball went wide. A minute later Balázs won possession in midfield and found Ihrig-Farkas on the left, with Kecskés arriving alongside him and calmly rolling the ball beyond Bencze into the bottom-left corner (2–0). Interestingly, both György Botos and Barna Kecskés scored their first NB III goals, and both found the net after coming on as substitutes. In the remaining time Dúzs had to save two visiting shots, while in the 82nd minute the Pesterzsébet side were reduced to ten men after substitute Richárd Slezák was sent off by the referee.
Our second team therefore ended its winless run and also brought ESMTK's winning streak to a halt. Gábor Kovács's side continue their league campaign away at Hódmezővásárhely in a week's time.
