István Körtvélyesi takes charge of our second team

Gábor Kovács took charge of our second team in August 2024, having previously worked as an assistant coach with our NB III side. Over the past two years, he has achieved good results with the team while playing an important role in helping young academy players make the transition to senior football. We thank Gábor for his work over the past two years. He will remain at the club and continue as the coach responsible for individual player development.

From now on, István Körtvélyesi will lead our second team, assisted by our former standout player Ivan Lovric as first-team coach. The 37-year-old specialist began the 2026–27 season as head coach of our U17 team. His place will be taken by Viktor Petrók, our former U17 title-winning coach, with Zsolt Deák, previously an assistant coach of our NB III side, as his assistant.

István Körtvélyesi joined Kispest in the summer of 2024. During his playing career, he also represented ETO, Gyirmót and TFSE. He spent five years at Újpest, working as head coach of youth teams and overseeing the pre-academy age groups (U12–U16). He then spent four years at Felcsút, where he won one elite youth league title with the U16s and two with the U19s. He also led his U19 team to qualification for the UEFA Youth League on two occasions.

He began his work in Kispest as head coach of our U15 team. Last season, his side remained in contention for the title throughout the campaign, ultimately finishing just one point behind the winners to claim silver in the elite U16 championship.

We wish everyone success in their new roles!
